Duke Farms, which produces a number of genetically modified crops, is one of many companies that are in the midst of a massive public relations battle over GMOs.
The company has been accused of using deceptive marketing tactics to get its product into the marketplace, including a false claim that GMO soybean could help fight the ravages of the Zika virus.
But the company’s executives have been more forthcoming, claiming that their crops, like many others, are safe and beneficial.
It’s a position that Duke Farms CEO Kevin Hines, said in an interview with Business Insider.
“Our company does not produce GMO soybeans,” Hines said.
The problem with that claim is that the study did not look at soybeans grown in fields that are genetically engineered to produce a single trait called “Bt corn,” a trait that is also found in the Roundup Ready GM crops that are the mainstay of the industry. “
Our farmers have shown that it’s a very effective crop to feed the world.”

Instead, the study looked at fields that contained Bt corn, a corn plant that has been genetically modified to produce another trait, called Bt toxin, that helps break down plant tissue to make its toxins.
As part of a larger study, Duke Farms planted a large swath of Bt maize in its fields and found that the toxins were able to break down the plant tissue in the field much more effectively than the Bt plants in the control group.
“This is a very important finding,” Hines said in the interview.
“It is not a new finding.
“But we also had to get a number to show that the BTA corn actually had a protective effect. “
So, we were really careful not to say that there was an advantage to this.” “

But Duke Farms is facing pressure from the biotech industry.
In a petition filed with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Thursday, farmers and environmental groups called on the USDA to investigate the company over the use of Bts corn in its soybeans.
According to the petition, the company has violated federal food safety laws and is misleading consumers and farmers about the safety of its Bt-toxin-free soybeans by claiming that they are better for the environment than conventional corn, which contains toxic chemicals that are also used in GM crops.
Among the concerns raised by the farmers is the fact that Bt toxins are not only not harmful to humans but also are produced in plants that are already in use in the US.
And it’s not just soybeans that are being singled out for scrutiny.
Last month, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced that it will require GE crops to be labeled as GE, in response to a public outcry over the company Monsanto’s use of GMOs to create crops that could help combat climate change.
While Duke Farms says it is using GMO soy to feed hungry Americans, the USDA has also found that the company has used Bt crops in its GM crops in violation of federal law.
In October, the Department of the Interior issued a rule requiring farmers to report whether or not they had been using genetically engineered crops to feed their crops in order to protect against environmental damage caused by the crops, according to Reuters.
Critics also point out that the company has used a lot of money to try and influence the election in an effort to boost Republican candidates.
Dukes campaign has been financed by the Koch brothers, the Koch Industries PAC, the Mercatus Center and other groups, according to The New York Times.
Meanwhile, the United Soybean Association has also complained that Duke Farms has used taxpayer funds to help fund a smear campaign against Donald Trump, the president of the United States.
One of the groups suing Duke Farms in the federal lawsuit, the Organic Consumers Association, filed a lawsuit against the company in January on behalf of Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson.
Duke is also being sued by a coalition of environmental groups who want to shut down Duke Farms over the safety and efficacy of its genetically modified soybeans, as well as the impact it’s having on the environment.
